About Us
The Department of Distance Education serves the entire Cal State Fullerton community by providing a
comprehensive array of services relating to the design, development, implementation, and evaluation
of courses, certificate programs, and degrees offered online.
The Distance Education team includes
individuals with expertise in teaching and learning, project management, instructional design, multimedia,
and programming. The department is part of University Extended Education, which provides the distance
learning services to the entire university community.
Thanks to the recent popularity and increased quality of online programs nationwide, a degree or certificate
obtained by taking online courses is as respected as a degree from a traditional college. According to studies
done by the U.S. Office of Technology Assessment, compared to traditional students, distance learners do as
well or better in courses and on tests. Human resources executives agreed students who go to school online after work or while balancing family life, demonstrate a particular ambition and resourcefulness that would be an asset in the work place.
